Tea & Coffee Mornings:
Regular Tea & Coffee mornings are held at St. Peter’s House, Exchange Street, Wolverhampton. We discuss AOUG events and activities at these meetings. Members are welcomed to join us at this event. Saturday 3rd November, 2012 at 1.00 pm:
A guided tour of Pen Room Museum at Unit 3, Ardent Centre, 60 Frederick Street, Hockley, Birmingham, B1 3HS [www.penroom.co.uk]. This guided tour will commence at 1.00 pm and will last for one hour. However, members can stay at the museum until it closes at 4.00 pm. Birmingham used to be at centre of world pen trade. Many giant companies making pens were established in Birmingham. This museum shows importance of pen trade in the City of Birmingham as well as educating public in writing skills. Although, this event is a FREE event, the museum will welcome a voluntary donation. Members will meet at the main entrance of the Museum & Art Gallery by 1.45 p.m. for Welcome and Introduction. A visit to the Museum of Cannock Chase, Valley Road, Hednesford, Staffordshire,
WS11 1TD. [Tel: 01543877666] [www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk]. This museum is established on a site which was once a home to the Cannock Chase’s colliery which provided training for thousands of young people for coal mining industry. The museum explores social history, domestic life as well as industrialisation and military role of this area. Members will meet at the main entrance of the museum at 1.45 p.m. for Welcome and Introduction. We will finish at 3.00 p.m., but members can stay on until museum closes. This is FREE EVENT. A visit to Coventry Transport Museum, Millennium Place, Hales Street, Coventry, CV1 1JD. [Tel: 02476234270] [www.transport-museum.com]. This is a huge museum. Coventry is a birth place of British cycle & motor industries. The museum explores about 150 years of successful history of these industries and its famous people. It houses from earliest cycles to the present fastest cars on this planet. There are 200 cycles, 94 motor cycles, 240 cars, 25,000 models and about 1 million archives. This museum is designated as “having a collection of national importance”. Members meet at the main entrance by 11.00 a.m. for Welcome and Introduction. There will be plenty of things to see and members can stay on until museum closes at 5.00 p.m. There is an Esquires Coffee House at the main entrance for refreshments. This is a FREE EVENT.
