OMEGA
OMEGA is our Association’s own magazine and is sent three times each year for both Full and Associate AOUG Members as part of your membership package. It comes as a hard copy through the post so that you can enjoy it curled up in your favourite chair, along with your cup of tea, or take it with you to read on the bus or train. It contains updates on all AOUG news as well as news from our University. You will find contributions from our members and academic articles, along with information on future activities. Together with electronic communications like our Website, Facebook and regular editions of Local Newsletters, OMEGA offers an important link for members. OMEGA is also sent to senior members of The Open University, all Open University Departments and other university libraries.
An email version is also available from the AOUG Office for members with sight impairment or any other special circumstances.
Current edition
The Winter 2024 editio of our magazine features the Clifton Suspension Bridge, which is the venue for one of the excursion during our 2025 AGM, which is to be held in Bristol.
It also contains information about the Association’s Foundation for Education Research Award recipients – all eleven – as well as information about our Colin Reed Bursary recipient. These OU students have produced some impressive research work. There is information about the Ceremony and the Foundation Lecture that followed it.
We have included a very interesting Member’s article about her trip to Canada to see the total eclipse of the Sun earlier this year. We also have News from the OU, Alumni and the OU Students Association, as well as News of our own events around the country and Diary Dates for the first four months of 2025.
If you are not already a member, then join us now so you can read all of this yourself. And remember anyone who becomes an Associate member will receive their copy too.

Next edition
The next edition of OMEGA will be published in April 2025 and as well as the usual items, it will contain information re the candidates for the 2025 Executive Committee Elections. Members will also find inserts for voting for these candidates and also a proxy voting form for all Resolutions and Motions for any members not able to attend the AGM in person. Please be sure to complete and return both of these forms as your involvement in the future of your Association is very important.
