Landfill site trees: Potential source or sink of greenhouse gases?

I am researching the role of trees in the exchange of greenhouse gases from closed landfill sites to the atmosphere. I aim to determine whether planting trees on closed landfill sites mitigates greenhouse gas emissions from waste or increases emissions by channelling gases from the waste directly to the atmosphere.
