The village of Easton is just off the A1, however please follow signs, not your satnav, or use what3words: standard, drummers, officials. Admission is £12 per adult or £5 per child.

    Saturday 21st February. 11am Meet in the ‘Butlers’ Pantry’ café on the ground floor of Wentworth Woodhouse, Wentworth, S62 7TQ for coffee prior to exploring the house and gardens. The intention is to see the extensive displays of Snowdrops along the ‘Snowdrop Walk’ and so it is advisable to ensure suitable shoes and clothing for the time of year as some areas can be muddy underfoot after bad weather. It is not necessary to pay for entry if you are just coming to the café but Garden only tickets are £10.50 (£7.85 for NT members), with House and Gardens £17.50 (£12.50 for NT Members). Children under 16 years are free.

Trams – Eccles line to Media City UK or into Trafford Centre line to Imperial War Museum. Pay by the hour car park available. The Lowry is walking distance away.

  • Titchfield Abbey – Fareham – 02

    Titchfield Abbey Mill Lane, Fareham

    Wednesday 25th February. 11am Meet at the entrance to Titchfield Abbey, Mill Lane, Fareham, PO15 5RA. Dating from the 13th Century, the abbey was home to Premonstratensian canons, who served in the local community. After the dissolution of the monasteries, Henry VIII gave the whole site to Sir Thomas Wriothesley, Earl of Southampton, who transformed it into a Tudor Mansion. Its most impressive feature today is the turreted gatehouse, built across the nave of the church. Entrance is free, but there is a nominal charge for car parking if not a member of English Heritage. Lunch at the Fisherman’s Rest, opposite the Abbey. There is no public bus service.

Edinburgh Drawing on Style, Original Fashion Illustration (Café, Entrance Foyer & Shop) Featuring works by artists including Antonio Lopez, Kenneth Paul Block and Steven Stipelman, the exhibition explores how fashion illustrators bridged journalism and fine art at a moment when the illustrated image still rivalled photography. (Free admission) David Remfry In Residence (Tapestry Balcony) Acclaimed artist David Remfry brings his lyrical artistic vision to Edinburgh, featuring 30 evocative paintings, including a sensitive portrait of his friend, Alan Cumming and his first-ever tapestry, created with Dovecot Studios. (Free admission) The Biba Story, 1964–1975 (North Gallery, South Gallery) Explore how fashion phenomenon Biba blossomed to become the world’s first lifestyle label, sparking a revolution in how people shopped and how Biba earned its spot as the brand that epitomises 1960s and 1970s fashion. ( Admission £10.50)

    Thursday 26th February, (time to be confirmed) Meet at The Bodleian Library, Weston Entrance, Broad Street, Oxford, OX1 3BG for a coffee. Then we will walk a short distance to the ‘Old’ Bodleian for a guided tour. This is an ideal opportunity to see the ancient parts of the Bodleian and Divinity School. Do inform the organiser no later than mid-January if you intend to join us as tickets sell out fast. The cost is £15 for an hour tour.

  • Fitzwilliam Museum – Cambridge – 06

    Thursday 5th March. 11am Meet for coffee in the Courtyard Kitchen Café at The Fitzwilliam Museum, Trumpington Street, Cambridge, CB2 1RB before we head into the museum at 12noon for a look at some of the exhibits. We can explore some of the galleries together or people can explore on their own for a couple of hours. This will be followed by a late lunch (2.15pm) at The Regal, 38-39 St Andrew’s Street, Cambridge, CB2 3AR for those who would like to eat together.  Should you want to join us at the Museum to explore or for lunch only, please let the Local Contact know in advance so she can look out for you when we move on from our coffee.
