Thursday 30th April. 11am Meet for coffee at River Café, 5, High Street, Bedford, MK40 1RN before visiting the John Bunyan Museum which is a short distance away (Mill Street, Bedford, MK40 3EU). The museum celebrates the life of the author of The Pilgrim’s Progress and is a free museum.
Thursday 28th May. 12noon Meet for coffee, or an early lunch, in the Castle Café, Norwich Castle, Castle Street, Norwich NR1 3JU before we visit Norwich Castle itself which has recently been renovated. If you want to join us just for the Castle visit, please let me know in advance and we will meet you in the Café at 1pm. Norwich Castle has a spectacular medieval keep and galleries covering subjects such as Natural History, Art and Regimental History. 2025 entry prices were £17.00 for adults but a discount is available if tickets are booked at least twenty four hours in advance https://www.norwichcastle.norfolk.gov.uk/article/30296/Admission-prices-and-book-tickets-for-Norwich-Castle. There are some concessions available, although not a senior rate – please check the website for availability.
Saturday 20th June. 10am Meet for coffee in the Old Court Room in at St Albans Museum, Town Hall, St Peter's Street, St Albans, AL1 3DH so we can then head outside at an appropriate time for ‘The Alban Pilgrimage’. The Pilgrimage starts at 11am and works its way through the town before heading towards the Cathedral where there will be a Eucharist at noon for those that would like to attend. For those who cannot join us until closer to 11am, we will aim to watch the pilgrimage from close by the museum but if you are joining us after 10.45am please take my mobile number so you can contact me and check where we are standing.
Tuesday 14th July. 12noon Meet at ‘The Corn Exchange, Wetherspoons, Abbeygate, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 1UL for coffee/lunch, before visiting the nearby Moyse's Hall Museum in the Market Square Adult admission £5. The museum is in a Grade I listed building and houses permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. Bury St Edmunds station is on the Ipswich to Cambridge/Ely line and about fifteen minutes’ walk away, with bus or taxi alternatives. Long stay parking is available in the town centre.
Thursday 16th July. 12noon Meet at The White Hart are welcome., Unit 4, Exchange Street, Aylesbury, HP20 1UR for coffee and/or lunch. All members and friends welcome.
Thursday 20thAugust. 12noon Meet in the Garden Terrace Tea Room for coffee/lunch Knebworth House and Gardens, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, SG1 2AX. Admission £20+ for house, gardens and park, £15+ for gardens and park only, but RHS and Historic Houses discounts apply. Guided tours are available. The carpark is near the House and Tea Room, while the nearest station is Stevenage, a few miles away, requiring a bus or taxi connection. The House dates from Tudor times, with Victorian additions, and has undergone recent and ongoing restoration. It is the seat of the Lytton family, with links to literature, politics and foreign service, while the Park is perhaps best known for hosting pop/rock concerts for over fifty years.
