Welcome to Nation 10 – Wales

Nation 10 – Wales – covers the whole country, from the Bristol Channel in the South to the Menai Straight in the North. Due to the difficult travelling with both public transport and driving routes restricted by the geographical features, the area tends to need to split North and South for any activities organised but this does not mean that there are any restrictions based on where you live. You are free to attend any events, not only in the whole of Wales, but also throughout England, Scotland or Ireland if you are able to get there.

Plus during and following the pandemic, some areas have organised Zoom meetings and these have enabled connections and communications to continue.  So even if the virtual meeting is being organised as far away as the North Region, or over in the East Midlands, you are very welcome to join in. Just get in touch with the organiser for the joining details.

At present, Wales is without an Executive Representative and also has no current Local Contacts, which is a real shame. So maybe you could consider arranging a one off activity that you would like to do yourself. Is there a place near you the members might like to visit or even a Cafe or Coffee Shop where a few members could enjoy a coffee and a chat? Please do think if you could facilitate something.

If you are interested in becoming the EXecutive Representative please contact the Chairman on derrick7633@outlook.com or if you have any ideas for activities, please contact:

Development Officer, Lesley Sleigh – lesleigh@live.co.uk .

Summer 2023 – Bodnant Gardens

Members made their annual visit to Bodnant Gardens in the North of Wales. We try to go in different seasons so that we can get to see a different selection of the variety of plants groing there. These annual visits to  magnificant gardens atract members from several AOUG Regions, including the North West, Yorkshire and the East Midlands

This year the weather was not so kind but the pouring rain could not dampen our enjoyment. If anything the rain seemed to lift the intensity of the colours. However when the rain got extremely heavy we sheltered under the roof of the pavilion across the end of the water lilly canal.
