Creative Writing
Do you dream of being an author or a poet? Have you an original short story, descriptive prose or a poem racing around in your head just waiting to find an audience? Then look no further as we are sure that other graduates would love to read it. So why not put your fingers to the keyboard, or your pen to paper, and let that creativity flow. Please keep your composition to under three hundred and fifty words and remember to give it a title. Then send it into AOUG along with a photo of your own, that is relevant to the text. Please remember that work submitted must be your own original work as we cannot accept anything assisted by AI or adapted from another person’s story, prose or poem.
Please remember to scroll down the page to see the creative pieces by other people.
LOOKING BACKWARD AND FORWARD
I would not do anything any different.
It is foolish to even think of it.
You are what you are,
The past has made you what you are.
Good or bad it has moulded you to being the person you are.
The people who were nice have helped, the people who treat you badly have also helped, though they did not realize it.
You have learnt from the experiences which gave pain.
You have reflected on that pain and come through it and hopefully have become stronger and bigger than before.
You did not want that pain, but as it was there. it had to be tolerated.
Hopefully it made you treat other people better than before.
All experience has good and bad aspects, the trick is to see them both at the time and definitely when looking back.
But make looking back an experience of knowing how you got here and where you are now going.
You are what you are, but better, it is to be hoped
So, keep it going and be yourself,
Hopefully you know what that self is.
Violet Rook – Region 09
Spring Bumble Bee
She brings me the sense of Spring, of warmth
Trailing furry legs but with her too short wings
Out from her dreary burial hidden in some swarth
How did she escape our Earth’s apron strings?
Flying her impossible aeronautical dreams
She swoops to show me her new skills
Woken by the sun’s now stronger gleams,
But with her rapidly growing hunger to fill.
My garden is bare and looking sadly brown
But hold on, she has brought me so much Joy
What can I offer her as an equal return?
Wait. The largest plant with flowers I can buy.
