AGM Attendees to visit SS Great Britain

Bristol is to be the centre for the 2025 AGM Weekend when members will stay at the Aztec Hotel. However excursions will be centered around the work of the Bristol based engineer, Isambard Kingdon Brunel, who designed the Great Western Railway from Bristol to London, built two oceangoing steamers, (SS Great Britain and SS Great Western) and the won the competition for the design of the Clifton Suspension bridge which still stands imposingly over the Bristol skyline.  New docks and factories being built, and the innovation of air travel attracted more engineers to develop aviation factories and Aerospace, the designer of Concorde, became established to the North of Bristol.

Attendees at the AGM weekend will have the opportunity to visit SS Great Britain, see the Clifton Suspension Bridge and its Visitor Centre and also the Aerospace Museum. A real celebration of Brunel’s work. Full details of the AGM Weekend were in the 2024 Winter OMEGA but you can contact AOUG Office via info@aoug.org.uk if you want to know more.
