Lauren Rose not only became a recipient of one of the AOUG Research Student Awards but she also was presented with the John Veysey Bursary. Whereas our Awards are a peer recognition of the achievements of the OU Research Students who have previously gained an OU degree, our Bursaries are a little different as these are a small grant to allow the student to extend their research in a way that would not have been possible without it. This Bursary is named after a long standing AOUG member who was very active in the East of England area and who left the Association a legacy in his will. Lauren’s research is based on the effects that transition from Junior School to Secondary School can have on the children’s enjoyment of physical activity. She intends to present her research to at The International Society of Qualitative Research in Sport and Exercise Conference in Toronto in May 2026 and will then return to present our Foundation Lecture in October 2026.
