Meet in Ginger’s Ice Cream Parlour café, 80, Hallgate, Howden, near Goole, DN14 7ST before visiting Howden Minster, High Bridge, Howden, near Goole, DN14 7BS. South Howden Railway station is nearby – less than a ten-minute walk to either the café or the Minster. Entry to both the Minster and its ruins is free. Those with cars might like to take a twenty-five-minute drive to Cawood Castle ruin, a previously suggested place to visit, before returning home. Meet with Jean Hertzog, the Chairman online to chat. This is an International Zoom offering a chance to join in an informal discussion with members from all Regions and Nations. The topic for this month will be ‘The joy of the countryside’. Meet in the tearoom of The Munnings Art Museum, Castle House, Dedham, Colchester, CO7 6AZ for coffee or an early lunch before we visit the museum which opens at 1.30pm for those that wish to just join us for the museum visit. The museum is housed in the former home of Sir Alfred Munnings, a former President of the Royal Academy who is well known, particularly, for his painting of horses. Tickets are £12 (2024 prices). The Munnings Art Museum is about fifty minutes’ walk or thirty minutes’ drive from Flatford Mill, which inspired John Constable in some of his paintings and members may wish to visit this area before coming to Dedham. |
