Saturday 21st June 2025 Alban Pilgrimage – timings to be confirmed. As details of this event have not been released before the diary was required for OMEGA please contact the Cambridge Local Contact for more information if you wish to attend. St Albans celebrates Britain’s first saint with a city centre procession to the Abbey and various city centre events and pilgrimage worship.  We will meet in one of the local coffee shops before the parade but await details of the timings of the event.

Thursday 10th July 2025 at 11am Meet for coffee at River Café, 5, High Street, Bedford MK40 1RN before first visiting The Higgins Museum, Castle Lane, Bedford, MK40 3XD at 12.30pm.  This free museum was established by Cecil Higgins who was a philanthropic brewer and houses his art collection which is mainly ceramics and glass.  If we have time, we shall follow this with a visit to the John Bunyan Museum which is a short distance away (Mill Street, Bedford, MK40 3EU).  The museum celebrates the life of the author of The Pilgrim’s Progress and is again a free museum.

Thursday 7th August 2025 at 11am Visit to Ely Cathedral.  Meet in the Tea Room of the Cathedral (as opposed to the restaurant) from 11am for coffee before we visit the Cathedral at noon. Tickets are £14 (2024 prices) which include either a in-person tour or use of a multi-media guide for a self-guided tour. Thursday 18th September 2025 at noon Meet in the tearoom of The Munnings Art Museum, Castle House, Dedham, Colchester, CO7 6AZ for coffee or an early lunch before we visit the museum which opens at 1.30pm for those that wish to just join us for the museum visit. The museum is housed in the former home of Sir Alfred Munnings, a former President of the Royal Academy who is well known, particularly, for his painting of horses.  Tickets are £12 (2024 prices). The Munnings Art Museum is about 50 minutes’ walk or 30 minutes’ drive from Flatford Mill which inspired John Constable in some of his paintings and members may wish to visit this area before coming to Dedham.

Thursday 16th October 2025 at 11.00am Meet for coffee in the coffee shop at St. Albans Museum & Gallery, Market Place, St. Peter’s Street, St. Albans,  AL3 5DJ.  There is likely to be a free, temporary exhibition but details are not available this far in advance.

Thursday 20th November 2025.  1.00pm Meet for lunch at Browns, 23, Trumpington Street, Cambridge, CB2 1QA for our final event of the year.  Enjoy catching up with the group over a pleasant lunch with plenty of opportunity to visit one of the neighbouring museums before heading home.
