  • Mercer Art Gallery – 07

    Grane Cafe 3, Royal Parade, Harrogate

    Saturday 17th October. 11am Meet at ‘Grane café’, 3, Royal Parade, Harrogate, HG1 1HG close to the train station for coffee in this popular North Yorkshire spa town, in which the first mineral spring was discovered in 1571. Then we walk to visit the Mercer Art Gallery which is free to enter and has changing exhibitions. Next to the train station is the Victoria Car Park with a vehicle recognition machine on entry and for those with limited mobility the No 36 red/black double-decker bus Leeds to Ripon can be caught at the bus station, alighting at the Royal Hall stop, then a short walk to the Gallery.

Edinburgh Gilbert & Sullivan Society returns to recently refurbished King's Theatre for this sparkling satire. Packed with witty dialogue, dazzling melodies, and a plot that’s as mischievous as it is magical, this comic opera blends fantasy and farce in a timeless battle of love, law, and lunacy. Whether you’re a seasoned Savoyard or a curious newcomer, Iolanthe promises enchantment and uproarious delight from curtain up to final bow. There is much to explore, the Gothic style chapel, walled kitchen garden as well as a lakeside walk and trees, hopefully, in their full Autumn glory. This is a National Trust property.

  • Harris Museum – 08

    Harris Museum Market Street, Preston

    Saturday 21st November. 11am Meet in the café at the Harris Museum Market Square, Preston, Lancashire, PR1 2PP. The Harris reopened in September 2025 after a £19 million transformation. This Grade I- listed building now houses free exhibitions, a library woven throughout the galleries, and the Wallace and Gromit exhibition celebrating Preston-born animator Nick Park. The Harris sits on Market Square in the city centre, about a ten-minute walk from Preston railway station. Turn right onto Fishergate from the station, walk straight until you reach Boots, then turn left onto Market Square.
